570CE - History of Islam

Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was born into the Hashemite clan of the Quraysh.

It was seen to be a prestigious year as it was the year Muhammad's (P.B.U.H) grandfather, Ab'd al Muttalib defeated the impossible army of the Abyssinians. Father died before his birth. Muhammad (P.B.U.H) lived the first two years of his life in the care of his foster mother Halima. Aged six his mother Amina died. Put into the care of his grandfather, Abd al Muttalib who died two years later. Muhammad (P.B.U.H) then was put into the care of his uncle, Abd al Tahlib, who was now the leader of the Hashemite clan.

The Hashemite clan's importance declined rapidly as Abd al Tahlib was trying to protect and sustain the fair trade of the al Hums created by Hashim, Mecca which was all about sharing profit instead of making it. The Ummayyad and the Makzum were the two main clans which started making profit for themselves. Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was employed into the trading business.
