613CE-619CE - History of Islam

Persecution began against Islam and Muhammad (P.B.U.H)

Attempts to kill Muhammad (P.B.U.H) were made. Followers of Islam and Muhammad (P.B.U.H) were tortured and killed. Meetings were disrupted by hooligans, rubbish and thorns were thrown at Muhammad's (P.B.U.H) door. Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was then strengthened with the religious conversion of two great Meccan warriors, Hamza and Umar, who initially wanted to kill Muhammad (P.B.U.H) for converting his sister but submitted to the religion and God themselves.

The persecution became so bad Muhammad (P.B.U.H) helped flee 83 Muslims and their families to Abyssinia where they would be treated well by Christians. There was no chance Muhammad (P.B.U.H) could come under attack due to the clan protection system, Abd al Tahlib protected him.

The boycott of Hashim began, initiated by Abu Jahl, which extended onto other clans. Muhammad (P.B.U.H) received more revelations e.g. Surah 12 Yusuf, Surah 14 Ibrahim and Surah 71 Nuh, on how other prophets had been rejected by people but God championed them.
