The plan was very successful as the Meccans were routed but in celebration the Muslims who were instructed not to move from their posts did so and Khalid lead an army up the hill cornering the Medinans, wounding Muhammad (P.B.U.H) himself. Although it appeared to be a defeat it was actually a Muslim victory as the Meccans could not follow up their advantage.
