Muhammad (P.B.U.H) performed his last pilgrimage and set the example for all the Muslims to come.

He delivered his last sermon from the plain of Arafat to 12,000 Muslims. He returned from Mecca to Medina and caught a fever which left him bed ridden. Abu Bak'r then lead the Salah for him but one day momentarily, the fever left Muhammad (P.B.U.H) and he performed his last Salah just before he died.

A lot of Muslims were deeply confused at the death of Muhammad (P.B.U.H) but Abu Bak'r reminded the Muslims that he was merely a human just like us all and was nothing but a humble servant of God.
